Official Instagram (beta) App for Windows Phone 8

The much awaited Instagram application for the windows phone platform has finally been released a couple of days ago. Now, I wanted to use the app for a couple of days before writing this review so as to find out any bugs or errors in the app, which I did.
Comparing the new app for windows witht the ones on iOS or Android, you can see that the UI is much different. Instead of having the four tabs down below, we have them at the top near the Instagram logo. Now having these tabs at the top dosent leave the bottom empty. At the bottom is three options- capture, search and refresh. In addition tothese three, you can also pull up settings option from the bottom which then leads to the settings menu. If you haven't noticed, in the iOS or android app, the Instagram logo would disappear once you start scrolling, which doesn't happen in the app for windows. Now the downsides to this is that it reduces the screen real estate. However, the pap runs smoothly without any lag.
One of the popular third party application, approved by Instagram, is 6tag on the windows phone platform. In then new Instagram app, capture option leads directly to the gallery from where we can chose to 'take a photo' which then leads to your standard camera application. In 6tag, capture option leads you the inbuilt camera with all the filters and what not, with the grid option, flash, etc. Now that would be the only reason I would switch to 6tag instead of the new. App.
However, Instagram has to improve upon their new app for windows phone with the increasing users not only on Instagram but windows phone 8 as well! Let's wait and see.
